Job description: Job DescriptionThe Executive Director, Corporate Finance “CF” Direct Sales is the bank’s leading direct sales market facing executive for the important Corporate Finance and Middle Market Segments (businesses with revenues of $40 – $500mm). This role works with the Head of Corporate Finance to determine the overall strategic direction and leads the planning cycle for large company growth geographic footprint. Note our current geographic footprint is defined in four key states (OH, IN, PA, NY) plus adjacent states. The Executive Director, Corporate Finance Direct Sales will coordinate this strategy with product partners in credit management, operations, credit risk, treasury management, deposit product, marketing, finance, and Info Tech to determine the overall execution strategy and financial plans for the group. This important role is responsible for sourcing the CF Relationship Managers in our key markets and managing their sales activity and deal flow. In additional to hiring origination talent, this role manages the day-to-day sales production in this our key MSAs (Columbus, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia) which includes marketing activities, initial risk assessment, underwriting prioritization and structure, approval, booking, and syndication if needed. Note that loans in this market segment consist mostly of the cash flow structures. This role must have extensive knowledge as the first line of defense around cash flow loan structuring as well as deposit and treasury management products. The Executive Director, Corporate Finance Direct Sales will also lead efforts to ensure we have the appropriate credit appetite, policies, procedures to deliver loans and deposit and treasury products to win in this segment. This position is a critical role in the commercial team and will represent NW bank in a key market MSAs.Essential Functions
- Make timely and accurate decisions while thriving in a fast paced environment
- Oversight of middle market and corporate finance loan origination, portfolio health, and credit appetite for direct customers
- Partner with Credit Management and Risk partners to develop, document, communicate, and maintain credit policy (including portfolio management policy) to ensure underwriting criteria and procedures are appropriate in relation to the bank’s risk appetite and business goals
- Maximize results by managing portfolio balances, segment concentrations, yields, and risk
- Drive proper industry segment identification, client selection, credit appetite and return profile
- Develop key performance indicators and holding team accountable for results
- Identify and implement operational efficiencies and continuous improvement for the vertical
- Recruit, develop, and retain key talent
- Build and lead a high performance workforce
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency
- Exercise credit judgment and creativity as appropriate to ensure proper risk/return profile
- Ensure compliance with Northwest’s policies and procedures and Federal/State regulations
- Build strategic partnerships through presenting in a professional manner to new and existing partners of Northwest
- Provide business updates to the broader bank team, senior management, and Board of Directors
- Partner with Compliance Officer to ensure adherence to bank policies
- Develop and maintain proper compensation structure to ensure portfolio growth and credit quality
- Partner with Vendor Management Officer to ensure maximum utilization of technology, optimal efficiency and best practices
- Partner with Training Officer to ensure team training needs are met on a timely basis
- Manage work hours and FTEs to control costs
- Partner with Quality Control to respond to findings
- Review exception requests from business partners and department management team
- Understand and comply to investor, insurer, and Northwest policies
- Maximize results of industry memberships and networking opportunities
- Participate in efforts to increase cross-sales between internal business partners
- Manage efforts to grow and retain loans and deposits
- Manage efforts to generate activity from new and existing customers, as well as non-customers
- Manage our syndication efforts for both buy side and sell side
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related field required, Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferredWork Experience
