Job title: ARL IT – PC Maintenance Technician (Service Desk Tier 2)

Job description: Under direct supervision, the Service Desk Tier 2 (PC Maintenance Technician) performs general maintenance tasks, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems and peripheral equipment located throughout the organization. This role involves maintaining an adequate spare parts inventory of systems, subsystems, and component parts used in repair work. Specific duties include preparing progress reports for all work performed and receiving work direction from the supervisor on work priorities and daily assignments. The PC Maintenance Technician frequently reports to a PC Support Manager. Additionally, they will be responsible for providing second-line escalation support (Tier 2) for all IT hardware and software, including various laptop and desktop computers, printers, scanners, monitors, mobile devices, and other peripherals, as well as all software including operating systems, COTS, GOTS, and custom-coded applications. They will utilize the current service desk software (ServiceNow) and provide various avenues for ARL customers to report incidents or make requests, including walk-in, telephone, email, and web-forms. They will also be responsible for desktop application services, asset and software management, and audio-visual collaboration systems support.
Position Requirements
- BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Less than 5 years of experience
- Expertise in general maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and repairing computer systems and peripheral equipment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Clearance Requirement: Secret Clearance
Baseline Certification/Training Requirements: CompTIA Security+
